EXCELLENTBased on 9 reviewsVerifiedЯна Ф2024-05-25Private hotel with hospitable hosts At first glance it was all very sad) Two guys greeted us and offered us lemonade. Conda entered the room, I asked to remove the carpet and wash the refrigerator. The linen is white and clean. In short, until we ourselves showed the shortcomings in cleaning the room to the guys, no one really cared) The next day we already met the owner of the hotel, Vainoja 🫶🏻 Kind, welcoming, caring! Vainoja and her husband took us to Colombo, to Ella, and for free. When we lost our bank card in Colombo, the owner contacted the shopping center and they found it for us!!! The hotel is not on the first line, across the road from the ocean. In fact, we were at the end of the season and were alone in the entire hotel. The pool is clean, the staff is friendly. Nearby is a wonderful restaurant A2, where it’s very tasty and affordable. We took a tuk-tuk and went to the center of Hikkaduwa for 400 rupees. There we lay down on sun loungers by the ocean (free when ordering food and drinks) In general, to sum it up, if you want luxury service and everything, go to the Marriott in Weligama, there’s a different atmosphere. Like at grandma’s dacha, few people on the beach, delicious budget cafes) Vainoja, if you’re reading anything, our family with a little white child sends you a huge hello and remembers you with warmth and love ❤️VerifiedЕлена М2024-03-29Like visiting your favorite aunt Cozy, family hotel. More like a guest house. The first impression is shock. Some stairs without an elevator, a concrete floor in the room, a fan on the wall....not at all like large chain hotels. But this is only the first impression. The very next morning I assessed the room objectively. The floor is not concrete at all, there is some kind of soft covering painted to look like concrete, a fan on the wall is an artistic addition to a modern air conditioner. The bathroom is large, the plumbing works flawlessly, the stone mosaic is very beautifully laid out, and there is a tropical shower. Excellent mattress on the bed, comfortable pillows, clean linen. A small refrigerator, a kettle and everything you need to drink tea. There was no personal balcony; there is access to the balcony, but to a shared one, but the hotel does not have many rooms for this to become a problem. The downside is that there is no hairdryer (I’ve never lived in a hotel that didn’t have a hairdryer, it didn’t even occur to me to take one with me). The second minus is the lack of a safe, actually there was one, but it was a bedside table in the closet, locked with a key. We booked the hotel with breakfast, we didn’t regret it. Continental breakfasts alternated with local ones. When they brought local food, the hostess approached each guest and showed how it should be eaten (what to spread on what, what to mix with what, etc.) The hotel has a swimming pool, not big, but clean. Of course, if there is a sea, it is not needed, but when we returned tired from the excursion, it seemed like paradise to us. They splashed in it until dawn Beach. This is a separate topic. In March it is difficult to swim near the hotel, the waves are huge. We took a "Bibika" for 400-600 rupees and went to the "boat" beach, this is the one 300m from the turtle beach. There are no big waves, sunbeds are free when ordering drinks, we had lunch there too. Another plus is that there is a market next to the beach, so you can buy something in addition to lunch. We took oysters and mangosteens. We had dinner every day at different coffee shops and restaurants. I really liked having dinner at sunset on the ocean, but the best cuisine is in A2, in the restaurant which is located right next to the hotel.VerifiedZlata M2024-03-28🌴 A very good hotel. Close to the beach and a good cafe, you can get to the center by bus or tuk tuk. Decent rooms: tables, chairs, beds with good mattresses. There are air conditioners and fans. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. The pool is cleaned every day. In the evenings you can go up to the roof, sit at the tables and watch the sunset and the ocean. Breakfasts are hearty and tasty. Very nice staff! speak English well. The hostess is very kind and sincere, only for her can I give 5 stars) We had a good time with our family.VerifiedЕлена Г2024-03-20Soulful rest Small cozy hotel on the outskirts of Hikkaduwa. It is located on the second line, but you can hear the sound of the ocean and the road to the beach takes 2-3 minutes! The room is spacious and clean. New plumbing, snow-white bed linen and towels. The room has a small refrigerator, kettle, tea utensils. Tea, coffee, sugar. Take your robe, slippers, and toiletries with you. Cleaning upon request and you need to leave the key at the reception. The breakfast menu is determined by the administration. But it’s always tasty and plentiful, enough for lunch. There are national and traditional dishes. Meat and fish almost every day. Prepared very tasty! Fresh juice daily from a variety of local fruits and a fruit platter. Tea, coffee to choose from. Breakfast is served under the palm trees in the poolside lounge area. Eating in the fresh air while the birds sing is very pleasant! For an additional fee, you can order lunch and dinner directly at the hotel. (But there is a restaurant nearby, A2, a strange name, but an excellent, tasty menu. And not very expensive!) There is a swimming pool, large but not deep. Cleaned daily. The water is not chlorinated and is changed regularly. And the most important thing! People! Nice, friendly, always ready to help if needed! Thank YOU, my friends, for the excellent atmosphere of relaxation and bliss!VerifiedЕлена2024-03-08Cozy intimate hotel We stayed at the Sunset Sands hotel from the end of February to March 10, 2024. Our flight was delayed and we arrived late. At the reception we were greeted with cool, freshly squeezed juice and shown to our room. We bought a tour with breakfast and dinner. Although it was late, dinner was prepared for us. It turned out that we were the only guests with dinner. I really liked the room. I was surprised by the absence of various living creatures in the form of newts, beetles, gnats... Comfortable bed, snow-white linen, refrigerator, kettle. The downside is that there is a railway nearby, but we took this fact as a highlight. The view of the garden from the window only from our room brightened everything up. In the morning we woke up to the chirping of birds and squirrels. Responsive and very charming hostess. The same wonderful boys who helped with the housework. We were always interested in whether the food was delicious or if anything else was needed. The food is not very varied. The main dish is rice, potatoes and seafood, eggs. But we had enough. The ocean is wonderful, but only for those who swim well and are not afraid of the waves. With small children, as previously written, it is better to choose another place. The depth here increases quickly. The hotel has a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. It is popular with children. There are many places nearby where you can try Sri Lankan cuisine. Prices are approximately the sameVerifiedАндрей К2024-02-23I liked the hotel, Sri Lanka is a stunning country with a hot climate, warm ocean and magnificent nature!! We were at Sunset Sands from 02/14/24 to 02/22/24. We were pleased with the hotel. Good price-quality ratio. We checked in quickly. The room is spacious, clean, large double bed, comfortable armchairs and a coffee table, comfortable. Bathroom with new fixtures, clean. There is a balcony, but we didn't use it. On the roof there are tables for lunch and dinner with a good view of the local nature and the ocean. There is a swimming pool. WIFI is excellent throughout the entire hotel. The air conditioning works well, they even turned it off at night. The responsiveness and friendliness of the staff is excellent! This is one of the advantages of this hotel! The stay includes breakfast, not a buffet, breakfast is served independently, there is a variety, we were always full, mostly scrambled eggs, sausages, sandwiches, fresh juices, tea/coffee, fruit, sometimes local dishes. If you wish, you can order lunches and dinners for an additional fee, but we did not order. The adjacent building is the restaurant "A2" with delicious cuisine at average prices for Hikkaduwa. The location of the hotel is a 2-minute walk from the beach, the beach is clean, long with beautiful views for photos, very beautiful. However, it is difficult to swim because of the waves, we went for a swim on the left side of the beach, there are stones protecting from the waves and we went for a swim at Turtle Beach - Hikkaduwa (by tuk tuk 5 minutes, prices for a tuk are 300-600 rupees), there are no waves to swim there both adults and children. There is a Cargills supermarket nearby within walking distance. The main shops and cafes are located 3 km from the hotel in the direction of Turtle Beach - Hikkaduwa, we went there by tuk tuk for 5 minutes (prices indicated above).VerifiedДарина А2024-02-22The owner of the hotel is a wonderful woman. He will answer any questions and tell you where it is profitable to buy fruit)) I wholeheartedly recommend We rested for 10 nights. The hotel is wonderful, clean. There are only 14 rooms, 8 were occupied, so it is very quiet and uncrowded. The room was cleaned and linen changed. There is always hot water. There is a refrigerator, air conditioning and a fan. There is a very tasty restaurant next to the hotel, and the ocean is 2 minutes across the road. The beach is good, there are no reefs, the waves are not very strong. Plus, this part of the beach is always extremely sparsely crowded. The breakfasts are delicious and quite filling (omelet, sausages, toast, pancakes, fruit, yogurt), we had enough to eat. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I also liked that the hotel is quite far from the noisy center, but at the same time only 5 minutes away.VerifiedЕлена Т2024-02-20Unforgettable vacation!!! Sri Lanka is forever in my heart!! Very cozy, small hotel. There is air conditioning, the rooms are clean, the linen is snow-white, no living creatures were running around the room. Breakfast alternates (not buffet), European and local, daily freshly squeezed juice and fruit. You definitely won't leave hungry. Breakfast is served in the garden by Sri Lankan boys, which is really nice. I liked everything very much, special thanks to the hostess, she helped with any questions. If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday, then Sunset Sands is the place, the beach is uncrowded, clean, when there were waves, they went to the left to the fish market, where the stones form a small lagoon and you can swim safely. There are sunbeds on the beach with umbrellas, but they are from restaurants, we bought juice or ice cream (then we can occupy them for at least the whole day) and enjoyed the ocean.

Selvam, the manager, was incredibly accommodating and always willing to assist us. Even though we were only there for one day, we had a very enjoyable visit.
